A Travel Jewel in Lake Mburo National Park

Giraffes can be seen on the drive to Kigambira Safari Lodge

As you travel to Kigambira Safari Lodge and take the turn off Mbarara Highway, the journey on a seemingly never-ending bumpy road begins. As soon as you get to the gate of Kigambira Safari Lodge, you will realize that it was all worth it.

The animals

The sightings of all the animals as soon as you enter Lake Mburo National Park wipes away the doubt about the worthiness of the journey. The majestic giraffes crossing the roads (depending on the time of day) and the zebras are a sight to behold. If you have watched the animation Madagascar, you will begin to wonder whether the zebras are white with black stripes or vice versa.

The furry waterbucks stand silently observing your next move. The warthogs just go about taking mud/dust baths depending on the season. You will see plenty of African kobs. Once in a while you will catch a glimpse of a bushbuck before it scurries away.

You could spot a loner (a buffalo that’s been banned from the herd). A couple of unique species of birds also fly around. The best part about being in Lake Mburo National Park is that you can get out of the vehicle and take pictures. This is due to the fact that there are no animals that would endanger your life. Provided you keep a safe distance from the herd of buffaloes and your guide ensures that the area near you is safe.
